DIS launches DC 6990 digital conference unit

Danish Interpretation Systems (DIS) announced the latest evolution of its DCS 6000 digital conference system at the recent InfoComm show. The new DC 6990 unit can be programmed with the correct functionality for chairman, delegates, staff, technician and audience.

The user inserts a personal chip card or punches in the proper code on the integral touch screen, and the unit replies with the proper feature set automatically. The portable conference unit includes Speak/Request and Mute buttons with a light bar indicating red for speak and green for request mode. Additional features include a lockable XLR plug for a gooseneck microphone, a high quality loudspeaker, built-in channel selectors, chip card reader for user identification and headphone connectors.

The most obvious new feature of the DC 6990 is the large LCD touch screen. Using the screen, a conference delegate can select screen language, see speakers and request list, speech time, agenda, messages, conference and delegate information. With a touch on the screen, delegates can vote using 3 or 5 buttons and later view the voting results. In addition, two delegates can share one unit with separate user IDs, with separate voting facilities and channel selectors. The delegates will be recognized individually in the delegate list and by the camera, if camera control is used.

Like other conference microphones in the DCS 6000 system, this new conference unit can work as voice active or with Auto-Off. All units are linked in the DCS-LAN using standard CAT5 cables.
