Crispin automates Daystar Television

Crispin, a provider of broadcast automation software, equipment, services and support, recently installed System 2000, a scalable total automation solution, at Daystar Television Network, at Dallas, TX, Christian Television Network, providing support for digital transition and streamlined operations.

Daystar is using Crispin’s System 2000 suite of applications to support satellite recording, media ingest, asset management and control of two channels for on-air playback. The Crispin solution includes ten workstations, each focused on a specific workflow task, connected via TCP-IP. The system is designed with redundancy and air protection features. Crispin’s RapidPlayX on-air playback application provides playlist monitoring and control for two on-air channels, allowing Daystar to create and load playlists, edit events, issue playlist commands and monitor event status. RapidPlayX automatically loads daily program and record schedules for 24/7 operations and instantly updates events when new material is available on the video server or is updated in AssetBase, Crispin’s Web-enabled database.

RapidPlayX is the front end for Crispin’s scalable full automation on-air playback solution. To provide redundancy, Daystar has an additional RapidPlayX workstation running a playlist in case of master control failure. Crispin’s 32-port DeviceServer controls Sony VTRs, Pinnacle 8000 and 360 ImageServer video servers, Miranda master control switchers and a Pesa router.
