WNIN-TV Taps MicroFirst for Digital Automation

WNIN-TV, a PBS member television station in Evansville, Ind., has selected the Microfirst Digital Automation System to provide station automation and near line archive management and control.

Designed to provide a streamlined workflow for ingest, metadata management and transmission of multichannel content, DAS will control 15 Thomson K2 server channels as well as five Miranda ImageStore and Intuitions, a Utah Scientific 400 Routing Switcher, four Digital Vision Bitlink and four Motorola IRDs, a Triveni PSIP generator, a Sage Emergency Alert System, several VTRs and a 48 TB NAS. The real-time control for the DAS runs on MicroFirst's PowerPC based Multiport Microcontroller (MPC 3200).

"We are pleased to be providing WNIN-TV redundant automation and Near Line Storage control for their master control automation application, and we are confident the station will realize significant efficiency improvements from the operational ease of our software and our exceptional post sales support," said Jerry Berger, MicroFirst's vice president and general manager.

Tri-State Public Teleplex Inc., a non-profit corporation, owns WNIN-TV, which serves Indiana, Kentucky and Missouri areas.
