WKRC-TV improves on-air look with VDS Software

CBS affiliate WKRC-TV in Cincinnati, Ohio, has enhanced the look of its on-air graphics, news, sales and promotions packages by using Video Design Software (VDS) Liberty paint and animation products.

Beth Wilmhoff, broadcast designer for WKRC-TV, said the station originally purchased the software for its news department, but they soon realized that Liberty’s functions and capabilities would also benefit sales and promotional work as well.

Paul Morel, another broadcast designer at WKRC-TV, said the ability to move between animation programs in Liberty saves him valuable time in creating new projects. The software’s streamlined interface to other third-party programs and color correction features are also a welcome capability.

At WKRC-TV, Wilmhoff and Morel work with a Chyron iNFiNiT! graphics generator, where Liberty’s ability to easily import and export files created on other systems comes in handy nearly every day, he said, adding that Liberty functions like the animation, painting and rotoscoping tools are sure to come in handy in the future.

The Liberty V8 product line includes comprehensive paint, animation and compositing software and turnkey systems for WindowsNT/2000/XP and SGI-IRIX Workstations. Liberty also runs on Chyron’s Duet and Aprisa platforms, and networks to iNFiNiT! and IMAGESTOR!, as well as most other industry standard graphics and NLE systems.
