Verizon to increase HD channel offerings

Verizon plans to add more than 25 HD channels to its FiOS TV lineup this summer, part of a move that will increase the service’s channel count by more than 60, the company said June 5.

The HD channel growth will elevate the total number of HD channels available this summer to between 52 and 65, depending on the location. By the end of the year, Verizon will take its total HD channel count up to 150, which will include all major HD programming that’s available, the company said.

Verizon will roll out the new content, region by region, to areas where FiOS TV is available, beginning by early July. The new channels will be activated in FiOS systems across the country over the following few months.

Included in the new content will be more than 25 HD channels. Other Verizon HD choices include hundreds of video-on-demand (VOD) titles per month, with 1000 HD VOD titles by the end of the year.
