Verizon rolls out virtual studio that lets NFL fans select shots of games

Verizon said Nov. 15 it plans to begin offering NFL Network Game Extra, a unique service that lets viewers watch live, online broadcasts of Thursday and Saturday pro football games while selecting from among multiple camera feeds.

The service is available to certain Verizon customers, including FiOS and high-speed Internet customers with either Verizon FiOS TV or DIRECTV from Verizon at no additional change. Verizon signed a one-of-a-kind agreement with the NFL Network to be able to offer the service, which is available online through any broadband connection.

Viewers of the online broadcasts can access alternate camera angles and live audio feeds and have the ability to view one of four camera angles, or all four angles simultaneously.

Among the other features are the ability to conduct live online chats with other NFL Network Game Extra viewers during live games and on-demand video highlights of the games.
