University of Maryland produces content with Mobile Studios

University of Maryland Television, the nonprofit, educational cable television channel serving the campus of the university and the surrounding areas, has purchased Mobile Studios' portable live video production system.

The portable production system, called the MS7HD, features FOR-A's HVS-500HS Hanabi 1 M/E HD switcher. All components of the system are integrated so that users simply open the top of the case, plug in the cameras and begin shooting. This makes it ideal for college students using the system.

The standard MS7HD integrated flypack comes complete with a Hanabi 1 switcher, input preview monitors, preview and program monitors, audio mixer panel, flight pack console, back-up UPS battery power supply, complete systems integration and user training from a Mobile Studios' engineer.

FOR-A's HVS-500HS, the centerpiece of the system, is a self-contained switcher that accepts analog and digital HD and SD formats — with no external conversion required. It has a variety of input/output interfaces, including SD-SDI, HD-SDI, Analog Component SD and Analog Component HD. It can also connect to HDV cameras or PCs using component video breakout cables.
