Telecast Fiber simplifies production set up

Telecast Fiber Systems introduced its Teleport coarse wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM) wavelength manager at NAB2005.

The Teleport provides high-bandwidth multiplexing for as many as eight digital signals, totaling up to 20Gb/s in each direction on two single-mode fibers. Because any transport device in the 1300-nm and 1550-nm wavelength categories can be plugged into any channel of the Teleport, it eliminates the need for wavelength-specific devices.

The Teleport assigns each incoming signal to a specific CWDM wavelength and sends it on to the CWDM multiplex. On the receive end, the signals are optically demultiplexed and distributed to their corresponding receivers.

The system also provides sufficient bandwidth to enable broadcasters to run eight HD studio cameras on just two fibers. A high dynamic optical range ensures reliable and trouble-free operation, even on long lengths of fiber cable.
