The Voyager Flyaway is capable of bi-directional video, audio, voice and IP data communications between the remote transmission and satellite downlink sites.

The Voyager Flyaways are being used to transmit video and audio from the Middle East to NBC Studios in New York via the MSNBC teleport in Secaucus, N.J. Soldiers have even used the telephony capability of the Voyager Flyaway to call home from the field.

TANDBERG Television developed the digital satellite technology used within the Voyager Flyaway system in cooperation with Raytheon and Vocality International (which makes a signal multiplexer and data link that establishes secure telephony circuits like PCP/IP, ISDN, data and MPEG audio).

The Voyager Flyaway is capable of bi-directional video, audio, voice and IP data communications between the remote transmission and satellite downlink sites.

Because of the unit’s compact size and ease of operation, TANDBERG said the network’s field correspondents have been able to set it up for transmission in approximately 20 minutes and take it down in less time.
