A survey conducted by Lyra Research indicates that Time Warner Cable customers have the highest usage of DVRs in the cable universe.

Out of the five largest multiple systems operators (MSO), TWC had higher numbers than Adelphia, Charter, Comcast and Cox, according to "Hooked Up: A Cable TV User Survey." TWC customers also report the most widespread availability of VOD programming and VoIP telephone service.

"In the fierce competition for subscribers between cable and satellite TV services, advanced digital services are crucial to the future prosperity of cable systems operators," said Steve Hoffenberg, principal analyst for the DTV View report series and director of electronic media research, Lyra.

The survey was conducted in October and November 2004 of more than 600 currently cable TV service subscribers in the United States.
