Sportvision Supplies Soccer Graphics for ESPN

Chicago-based Sportvision is providing graphics enhancements for ABC's and ESPN's coverage of Major League Soccer for the 2007 season, the company said. The new enhancements debuted April 7 on ABC's telecast of DC United at Colorado Rapids.

One of the highlights is the yellow off-sides line, which uses the Sportvision video overlay technology, similar to the yellow 1st & Ten line seen on NFL/NCAA football broadcasts. For soccer, Sportvision will render the yellow off-side line from sideline to sideline.

Additionally, Sportvision will integrate Kick-Track technology into the broadcasts, enabling viewers to see speed, distance and trajectory of various kicks. This technology renders a virtual trajectory behind the soccer ball on replays.
