Sky News uses JVC ProHD cameras for coverage from Sudan

Australian news channel Sky News has made use of its JVC ProHD cameras on a recent shoot entitled, 'South Sudan: A Breath Of Life', covering some of the work of the humanitarian aid organisation Médecins Sans Frontières.

The cameras were sold to Sky News by JVC dealer Quinto Communications. Initially the broadcaster purchased two GY-HD251E cameras kits that included Fujinon wide-angled lenses, PAG batteries, and Firestore camera back HDD and then acquired a third kit as the project progressed.

Quinto Communications Technical Sales Executive Gareth Ireland explained: "Sky News were looking to upgrade to a quality camera that had a shoulder mount, SD/HD-SDI output, dual tape and Firestore record capabilities and the ability to interchange lenses. The camera also had to be highly cost effective. When we presented the options the JVC ProHD GY-HD251E ticked all of the required boxes."

Sky News used the new cameras for ENG fieldwork, tripod interviews and to record major events with many wide and shoulder mounted shots.
