SeaChange announces native support of Avid DNxHD codec

SeaChange International’s broadcast play-to-air platform Broadcast MediaLibrary/MediaClient (BML/MCL) now includes native support of the Avid DNxHD HD production codec. With Avid DNxHD support, SeaChange users are afforded a new level of flexibility in developing tapeless HD workflows from ingest to production and transmission. A simple software add-on to SeaChange’s MediaClient 6000 server codec allows broadcasters to frame-accurately ingest and natively play back HD content in the Avid DNxHD format.

In supporting Avid’s DNxHD high-quality, low bit rate HD production codec, SeaChange supports the first codec to meet SMPTE VC-3 standards. Those standards are set to facilitate efficient encoding and exchange of HD media over an IT infrastructure.
