Pinnacle’s Deko used in ESPN’s all-digital studio
Pinnacle Systems' Deko character generators are on-air at ESPN’s new $30 million production studio. The systems deliver on-air graphics for all programming created at the 5000-square-foot all-digital facility, including ESPN’s “SportsCenter.”
The Deko systems will be used to create more than 4000 hours of SD and HD programming annually. The system also provides ESPN with the ability to scale 4:3 graphics to 16:9 format, enabling the network to use its graphics simultaneously for both HD and SD broadcasts.
The system uses an intelligent algorithm to interpolate the required pixels to create the different aspect ratio of HD graphics without compromising the defined look of the network’s graphics.
