Pathfire Upgrades Content Delivery System

Pathfire is expanding its Digital Media Gateway content distribution system by integrating Telestream's Flip technology and adding two modules that enable broadcast stations to drag and drop content directly to downstream editing systems or play-to-air equipment without the need to dub to tape.

Flip software transcodes media between source and destination formats and delivers the "flipped" content to specified locations. Adding Flip technology into the DMG will further automate communication, transcoding and digital delivery of media and metadata between the DMG server and destination systems such as broadcast servers and news editing systems. Content will be managed and distributed, digitally with metadata attached, from its origination point all the way to air. Transferring files and metadata between disparate systems using digital-to-digital technology will speed the file transfer process and improve file quality.

With the addition of the News Connect Module, Syndication Connect Module, or both, broadcasters will be able to select a single clip or a media list and add it to the play-to-air server or the editing system with a digital-to-digital transfer directly from a DMG desktop client interface.
