NJN upgrades automation with Sundance Digital

NJN Public Television and Radio (NJN), New Jersey’s PBS network, has received a Sundance Digital three-channel Titan automation system as a part of its upgrade and digital transition that includes automation of all the state network’s acquisition and playout capabilities.

Prior to the installation, NJN’s multichannel environment was controlled by a collection of homebrew elements dating back more than 20 years. Sundance Digital’s Titan was brought onboard to consolidate the network’s numerous control mechanisms into one platform and to streamline workflow, specifically ingest and playout efficiencies.

The three-channel Titan system will drive NJN’s 24/7 programming playout that consists of one HD channel and one SD channel with the capability of bringing another SD channel on line in the future. A full complement of equipment falls under Titan control, including Omneon Spectrum video servers, an NVISION router, Miranda master control switcher, Miranda Imagestore, Miranda KX multiviewer and Masstech/Spectra Logic archive. The network, headquartered in Trenton, currently operates four analog and four digital TV transmitters that serve all New Jersey households, with or without cable.
