Neither Rain nor Snow Dampens Enthusiasm for DBS

Despite citing rain and snow interference as among the top annoyances for satellite broadcast viewers, the majority of its customers would still not consider switching to cable, according to a new survey.

The Lyra Research DTV view group surveyed 600 satellite users for "Relishing the Dish: A Satellite TV User Survey" during August and September.

"During stormy weather is precisely when viewers are most likely to want to stay indoors and watch TV," said Steve Hoffenberg, principal analyst for the DTV View report series and director of electronic media research for Lyra.

Despite rain fade--when rain or snow interrupts satellite-TV reception--most respondents said that that they would not be switching from satellite to cable in the next 12 months, according to Hoffenberg.
