MPEG LA Opens Patent Pool for DVB-H
By TVTechnology published
Denver-based MPEG LA has issued a call for patents essential to DVB-H, the European digital television transmission standard, one week after opening a similar pool for ATSC, the DTV transmission standard in the United States.
DVB-H is a specification of the DVB Project and the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) DTV. DVB-H builds on the DVB-T digital television standard for which MPEG LA already offers a patent portfolio license.
Any party that believes it has a patent essential to the DVB-H standard and would like to join a patent license portfolio upon successful evaluation is invited to submit its patents for evaluation. Initial submissions are requested by March 1, 2005. Interested parties may request a copy of the terms and procedures governing patent submissions at the DVB-H link under the "Programs and Development" link at MPEG LA
