Mobile broadcast TV subscribers to exceed 150 million in 2012

A newly released forecast of the mobile TV market projects that the number of worldwide subscribers will reach about 65.6 million in 2010 and more than 155 million two years later.

Among the factors driving this growth are strong demand for content on the go, the growing number of handset shipments and increased penetration of mobile phones.

The forecast, part of Research and Markets’ “The Mobile Broadcast TV Market 2007 (Market Focus),” also identifies a number of impediments to mass adoption of mobile broadcast TV, including spectrum allocation, the functionality of mobile TV devices and growing competition from other entertainment sources.
