Miami Dolphins enhance in-stadium experience with HD

Equipped with Panasonic’s AJ-HDC27 VariCam and AG-HVX200 DVCPRO HD camcorders, production videographers from the NFL’s Miami Dolphins are capturing this season’s highlights and special events in HD.

Everything from close-up interviews and in-game features to special events are being shot with the high definition cameras.

The Miami Dolphins and Dolphin Stadium have begun using new technology to provide fans with more entertainment and an enhanced experience. The stadium recently installed one of the largest high-definition video boards in professional sports and one of the longest ribbon boards in the world.

With access to the camera’s flexible recording formats, Dolphins director of programming and production Jeff Griffith and his team shoot in the 720P format for the super-sized stadium video boards but can take advantage of the camera’s ability to shoot 1080i as well.

Griffith added HVX200 to his team’s equipment roster mainly because of its ability to shoot high-quality HD content and the operating convenience of P2 solid-state memory recording.

The Dolphins edit the DVCPRO HD and digital footage on Avid systems, seamlessly integrating footage from the HVX200 and VariCam.
