Mansion Mobile builds new HD production truck with Grass Valley technology

Mansion Mobile Television is building a new HD truck to meet the increased need for HD production in the Midwest and around the United States.

The production vehicle will be equipped with 11 new Grass Valley LDK 8000 Elite HD cameras and a fully loaded Kalypso HD video production center. The purchase order for the cameras and switchers is valued at more than $2 million, according to Grass Valley.

Of the 11 LDK 8000 Elite WorldCam cameras, seven will be used for fixed positions in a SuperXpander configuration with box-style lenses, while four will be set up in handheld configuration to roam venues. The Kalypso HD switcher includes a 4 M/E panel and four auxiliary bus panel.

The new 53ft expandable HD truck, which is expected to debut at the NAB Show April 20-23 in Las Vegas, will allow the company to produce twice as many live events. This will include entertainment shows as well as sports production.

Systems integrator Diversified Systems designed the system and installed the equipment in the truck. Calutech Mobile Solutions in Hammond, IN, built the truck’s body.
