Linear Acoustic spotlights new audio processor

At next month’s HD World in New York City (Nov. 29-30), Linear Acoustic will exhibit its new AEROMAX-TV Stereo Digital Audio Processor with CrowdControl Dialog Protection Processing.

The company said CrowdControl solved intelligibility problems reported by viewers — a major headache for TV broadcasters charged with providing stereo and surround soundtracks for live events. The unit ensures the viewer can hear the announcer when crowd noise is too loud in the surround channels.

The company said a new Linear Acoustic DSP algorithm developed specifically for the unit eliminated this problem for stereo feeds prior to transmission without impacting sound quality for surround listeners.

The four-channel AEROMAX-TV processes main stereo and auxiliary programs — stereo or dual mono — and includes a high-quality multiband dynamics engine.
