ITA Offers Certification Programs

The Interactive Television Alliance (ITA) is offering an Executive Certification Program for interactive TV production pros with the help of DigitalMentors--a provider of digital television training and media executive education services.

The curriculum is divided into three levels; one to add structure to a professional's burgeoning career path, a second to test technical knowledge and the highest level to teach how to integrate multiple projects across the range of digital TV delivery platforms.

"This isn't about sending people back to school. It's about elevating the profession to the status it deserves--paving the way for young people entering the industry," said ITA co-president Allison Dollar.

Topics that are available via e-Learning include MHP and conditional access systems, OCAP and digital set-top boxes.

Companies in the ITV industry such as OpenTV, Scientific Atlanta and Comcast have collaborated to create blended training strategies.

Future plans for the certification will extend to ITA's University Network. The Dowden Center at the University of Ga. has begun this integration into its undergraduate offerings.
