IBC 2013: Making Sense of the Connected World

Internet-connected smartphones, tablets and TVs continue to gain ground with consumers — and to potentially threaten the turf of traditional broadcasters. But savvy broadcasters can turn this threat into opportunity, starting with a visit to the IBC Connected World in Hall 14. This special area of IBC brings together the very latest developments in online and mobile TV, 3G, 4G and OTT services, pioneering “second screen” applications and IP technologies that are affecting the creation, management and delivery of content in an increasingly connected world.

Among the IBC Connected World highlights are daily ‘show and tell’ demonstrations of ground breaking technology, which are programmed alongside free-to-attend Connected Consumer Debates. These debates are hour-long sessions designed to give IBC visitors the chance to learn about and debate the critical business and technical issues at the intersection of broadcast and broadband.

Each day has a theme for IBC 2013 attendees wanting to ‘drill down’ on specific connected device topics. On Friday September 13, the theme is Apps and Software Solutions. The next day is IPTV/OTT Solutions; Sunday’s theme is Connected Home and Smart Devices, and Monday’s focus is Video Streaming and Multimedia Networks. On the final day, Tuesday September 17, the IBC Connected World theme is Cloud Platforms.
