Greek TV network outfits facility with Custom Consoles

Greek television network Skai has upgraded its facilities with a full complement of broadcast desks, monitor walls and supporting furniture as part of a major systems integration project that includes six custom design desks plus two Custom Consoles monitor stacks.

Located in Athens, Skai specializes in high-quality news, reality and drama. It's received via terrestrial analog UHF and throughout Europe via the Hellasat 2 satellite TV service.

The largest of the six Custom Consoles desks is a 16ft-wide unit installed in Skai's news gallery, while an identical desk is located in the continuity suite. Both incorporate a horizontal rear shelf to accommodate IT-based equipment behind the upward-sloping main operating surface. The other four desks are dedicated to the senior editor, the master control room and two ingest stations. All are constructed of grey-finished MDF with hard-wearing yellow Marmoleum work surfaces.

The project, which was installed by Sony Professional Services Europe, includes the use of LCD flat panels both for console and monitor stack monitoring. The monitor stacks are located in Skai's continuity suite and news gallery. An additional equipment rack and ceiling-suspended overhead pod were supplied to house audio equipment in the news gallery.
