Grass Valley Supports Democratic Convention

Grass Valley Profiles were used to provide AV support to the Democratic National Convention in Boston.

One PVS 1000 Profile XP Media Platform SD server (with eight separate channels), four PDR 300 servers handling MPEG-encoded files and two Profile PDR 100 servers distributing JPEG files were set up in temporary facilities in the Fleet Center. ProQue Industries, an AV services company used the server to provide random access playback in 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios on all the large screens on the Fleet Center stage as well as to fill various plasma screens throughout the convention hall. All of the Profile servers were networked via Fibre Channel connections, to allow the sharing of files and storage space.

ProQue is using the Profiles with approximately seven hours of attached storage per server, providing enough space to handle both pre-built effects as well as to create effects from separate elements during the live show if necessary.
