Gem Network uses ViewCast encoding

ViewCast a provider of audio and video communication products, said that the Gem Shopping Network, based in Duluth, GA, is using its Niagara PowerStream for real-time encoding of its television broadcasts.

The PowerStream provides Gem Shopping Network with video and audio content for live program broadcasts over the Internet. The streaming media encoder was designed for affordable plug-and-play operation.

In addition to live webcasting, PowerStream's 2-U rack-mount system can be used for interactive capture and encoding. Operators at a TV network can monitor, manage and control the encoder remotely via any IP-networked PC device using the included Niagara SCX encoder manager software.

Video is captured and streamed via two built-in 1GHz TCP/IP network ports. PowerStream supports video capture into AVI, Flash, RealVideo and Windows Media formats. A single system can be used to create and stream multiple video sessions.
