FOX College Sports to telecast more than 800 live collegiate sporting events next year

FOX Networks Group this fall will roll-out a recast of FOX Sports Digital Nets as three advertiser-supported regional college sports channels.

The new channels known as FOX College Sports will telecast more than 800 live NCAA events over the next year.

Much of the men’s and women’s NCAA sanctioned sports events will come from FSN regional sports networks and affiliates. Among the conferences to be featured will be the ACC, Big 12, Pac 10 and SEC.

FOX launched its FOX Sports Digital Net three years ago as an experiment. The network will provide all three regional channels throughout the country. Subscribers will receive one channel of college teams and events specific to their region, and two channels customized to other parts of the nation.

All FOX College Sports viewers will continue to receive their own local professional and college sports programming from FOX Sports Net or affiliated regional sports network.

FOX College Sports will be available to about 20 million digital homes and initially will be seen by viewers in 15 of the nation’s 20 largest cities. Among the metropolitan areas served will be New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas, Atlanta, Houston, Seattle, Minneapolis and Tampa.

Key MSO partners include Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Charter Communications, Cox Communications, Adelphia Communications, Mediacom Communications, Insight Communications and CableOne. The new channels also will be available to rural viewers through a distribution agreement with the National Cable Television Cooperative.
