The FCC will vote on its broadcast media ownership biennial review today. The open meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. in Washington, D.C.
The FCC is expected to approve a proposal that relaxes several media ownership restrictions.
Among the modifications:
- Lifting the ban on the same company owning a newspaper and a radio or TV station in the same market
- A change in the restriction on owning more than one TV station in a market
- Allowing a single company to own TV stations that reach up to 45 percent of all U.S. households
