FCC names new chief technologist for strategic planning, policy analysis office

The FCC Oct. 1 named Jon Peha, Ph.D., as its chief technologist. He will serve as a senior advisor on communications technology in the FCC’s Office of Strategic Planning and Policy Analysis.

Peha currently is a professor in the departments of engineering and public policy and electrical and computer engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. He also serves as associate director of the Center for Wireless and Broadband Networking at Carnegie Mellon.

Prior to joining the university’s department of engineering and public policy, Peha served as the chief technical officer of three high-tech start-ups and as a member of the technical staff at SRI, AT&T Bell Laboratories and Microsoft.
