The Prague Post announced that digital TV broadcasting arrived in Czechoslovakia Oct. 21. Expansion in other cities throughout the country will begin soon. CTV technical director Rudolf Pop said, "Next spring we plan to expand [digital broadcasting] to Brno and then to Ostrava."
The article explains that there are currently four TV stations with nationwide coverage in Czechoslovakia--T1, T2, TV Nova and Prima TV. This will expand to 24 program channels when the DTV networks are operational.
Czech IT Minister Dana Berova predicted Czechoslovakia will beat the European Union's deadline and be fully digitized by 2010.
