Discreet, a division of Autodesk, has acquired Unreal Pictures, developers of the advanced, character animation tool, character studio.
This transaction brings in patents and core character studio technology, allowing Discreet to further advance intuitive character animation.
Unreal Pictures’ research software scientists Michael Girard and Susan Amkraut, along with developer Michael Zyracki, will join Discreet as a result of this transaction. They will work with Discreet’s core animation development team in San Francisco and Montreal.
There are 100,000 seats worldwide of character studio.
