Discovery Communications has announced that the Discovery HD Theater network will be extended to international markets. The network was started in 2002 and offers HDTV programming from Discovery networks including The Discovery Channel and Animal Planet. This announcement is a further indication that HDTV is becoming a factor in international television program markets, as well as the U.S. International markets where HDTV is currently gaining a foothold include Canada, Mexico, Korea, China, Japan, Germany and the U.K.
