Dallas Cowboys Unveil World’s Largest HD Screen

DALLAS: The video display at the new Cowboys Stadium makes the 103-inch consumer HDTV behemoths look like cell phone screens by comparison. The stadium this week unveiled its new Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Vision System measuring 180 feet wide and 70 feet tall. The 1080p display weighs in at 600 tons, sports 30 million light-emitting diodes and cost Cowboys owner Jerry Jones $40 million.

"I kind of got emotional when the board came on," Jones told WFAA-TV, the ABC affiliate in Dallas. The stadium will be officially opened next week, with the first event--a George Strait concert--set for June 6.

Another Mitsubishi Diamond Vision system was unveiled at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx last month. The display there measures 101-by-59 feet. --Deborah D. McAdams
