The U.S. Senate this week passed its version of the fiscal year 2008 appropriations bill; it contains funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. The vote was 75–19.
The House passed a similar version in July and now the bodies will work to reconcile differences.
The FY 2008 Labor, Health and Human Services and Education measure provides CPB a $420 million advance appropriation for FY 2010 as well as $29.7 million for broadcast digital conversion and $26.75 million for public radio interconnection.
