Commission releases revised 700MHz band plan chart

Broadcasters curious about how the 700MHz band will be divvied up once the DTV transition is completed in February 2009 will find the FCC’s revised 700MHz band plan chart interesting.

The chart, released Aug. 10, lays out how the 700MHz band will be used for both commercial services and for public safety services. It shows two swaths of 700MHz spectrum, 763MHz to 775MHz and 793MHz to 805MHz, being allocated for public safety use. Each is divided for broadband and narrowband services with a narrow guard band in between.

The chart is part of the Second Report & Order adopted July 31 revising the 700MHz band plan and service rules. The commission published the Report & Order as well as the 700MHz band plan chart on its web site Aug. 10.
