Comcast SportsNet turns to SSL C100 to deliver 5.1 surround mixes

Digital audio consulting engineer Mike Giacalone, director of engineering Dick Miller and assistant director of engineering Dave Finocchiaro sit at Comcast SportsNet’s new Solid State Logic C100 console.

Comcast SportsNet recently installed a Solid State Logic C100 digital broadcast console to handle its 5.1 surround mixes of major sports events.

The C100 is the audio hub for the Wachovia Center where the Philadelphia 76ers and the Flyers play, and Citizens Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies.

The console generates Dolby E surround, stereo and mono mixes for production and distribution.

The C100 resides in the Wachovia Center and is connected to SSL’s remote stage box technology in Citizens Bank Park via a 6000-foot run of fiber optic cable.

The stage box technology allows Comcast to deliver rock-solid audio performance remotely as if the technology were installed next door.
