Clear Channel teams up with AJA Video Systems for Toronto airport monitors

Clear Channel Outdoor, the purveyor of display monitors at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport, has installed 80 D10CEA converters from AJA Systems in Terminal One of the new airport, which opened April 6.

Clear Channel selected Panasonic Canada to supply the actual TV screens to be used for the airport. The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) will develop and contribute content across the monitors, a follow-up to its successful daily news feed at Ottawa International Airport. After consulting with Panasonic and CBC to determine their converter specifications and which converter would best meet their needs, Clear Channel selected AJA Systems to provide the back-end hardware ensuring high-resolution on-screen content.

Of the 80 converters, 32 were installed in the terminal’s passenger departure section, as well as the baggage claim area for both international and domestic arrivals. Pearson International is a major hub; more than 40 percent of all passengers traveling through Canada – more than two million ticketed passengers per month – pass through the airport, which is ranked 17 out of all North American airports. It was imperative to Clear Channel that all aspects of the airport’s presentation and appearance be top quality.

The D10CEA converts SDI video with embedded audio to 10-bit component or composite analog video and four-channel balanced analog audio. The video outputs can be configured as YPbPr, RGB, composite or Y/C. It outputs two re-clocked, loop–thru SDI outputs. Configurations are easily done by external dip-switch selection.
