CBS, RCA Team Up For HD Football

Thomson’s RCA brand has agreed to sponsor HD coverage of the AFC Divisional Playoff games Jan. 11 and 12 and the AFC Championship game on Jan. 19.
The three live HD telecasts, produced by CBS, will be unified productions with analog broadcasts and include commentary and analysis from the same broadcast teams as the analog audience. The games will be broadcast in 1920 x 1080i
Thomson’s RCA brand will promote its digital line, RCA Scenium, composed of three rear-projection HDTV’s and four rear-projection and direct-view HDTV Monitors including built-in DVD players. Three additional DTV’s include two rear-projection and one direct-view HDTV monitor.
For 2002-2003, CBS broadcast 15 hours, or the network’s 18 primetime shows, in HD, as well as various sports programs. By kick-off, CBS expects to be transmitting digital programming across more than 100 affiliates reaching over 83 percent of the U.S.
