Canada: Are You Ready for Some HD Football?

TSN said it plans to air about 35 Canadian Football League games in HD this season, which begins next week.

The new CFL season kicks off in a Thursday night matchup on June 28, featuring B.C. at Toronto, followed by the first Friday night game of the season. Twenty of the 22 Friday night games this year will be available in HD, according to Digital Home Canada.

Also, in response to a multitude of complaints in recent seasons from viewers who disliked large on-screen “score bugs” obscuring some of the field of play, TSN HD said it would incorporate some visual changes this year. Rather than being in a box format at the top left corner of the screen, the score bug will be morphed into a slim horizontal bar across the bottom. A “virtual first down marker” will be added to HD broadcasts, as well.
