BIAP and Time Warner Cable partner for interactive services

BIAP Systems and Time Warner Cable have signed an agreement to bring cable subscribers an extensive package of interactive services. Included are such BIAP-created applications as eBay on TV and Fantasy Football Tracker.

Also included is PITV (personalized information television), which powers Time Warner Cable’s Instant News, and More, a service that provides personalized news, sports, weather, stocks and hyper-local community information.

BIAP Systems, based in Plano, TX, is owned by iTV Media. Its interactive TV platform is built on top of the existing cable infrastructure and is automatically loaded inside a digital subscriber’s set-top box. Applications require minimal capital investment on the part of the cable provider and no additional head count or channel capacity.

Time Warner Cable customers can access and use BIAP applications with their existing digital cable remote control devices. The PITV application allows viewers instant access to localized information that can be personalized to the individuals’ tastes.

BIAP applications also include on-screen alerts and channel applications both for networks on an ongoing basis and on an event basis, such as the Winter Olympics on six NBC Universal channels that ran interactively this past February in a number of Time Warner divisions.
