AT&T, AccuWeather.com roll out on-demand weather access

AT&T and AccuWeather.com are launching Weather On Demand, an interactive feature as part of AT&T’s U-verse TV service that allows subscribers to find on-demand weather information with the touch of a button.

The new on-demand TV weather programming is now available to subscribers of AT&T’s IPTV service in Atlanta, Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, Indianapolis and San Diego at no additional charge. AT&T plans to make the on-demand weather channel available to all U-verse customers in 2009.

According to AT&T, Weather On Demand will give viewers access to weather conditions and forecasts for any location in the country whenever they want it. It also will provide:

  • current local conditions, including high and low temperatures, humidity, wind, visibility and barometric pressure
  • local and nationwide forecasts, including hourly and six-day outlooks
  • animated local and national radar imagery and satellite views
  • current videos of meteorologists presenting local weather updates
