SUIRG launches satellite online interference database

The Satellite Users Interference Reduction Group (SUIRG) has launched an online, interactive matrix database that consolidates and tracks incidents of satellite radio frequency interference within the geostationary arc.

The SUIRG Interference Matrix Database is the first of its kind in the industry. It will permit satellite operators, broadcasters and transmission service providers to track and identify the primary causes and regional sources of interference and help them find solutions that minimize, or in some cases eliminate, the problem.

The new Interference Matrix Database collects and sorts interference incidents by source, originating region, size and type of antenna. SUIRG member satellite operators input the data through a password-protected page without identifying their company. The aggregated data can be viewed on the SUIRG Web site at http://suirg.org/interference.

SUIRG is a non-profit association of private and public sector satellite organizations. Its mission is to combat satellite radio frequency interference.
