Scripps automates three major cable networks

The company recently installed Colossus from OmniBus Systems at the Scripps’ Knoxville, TN, broadcast headquarters. Scripps launched HGTV HD in April, GAC in the middle of June and Food Network HD on June 30, and the network plans to shift the rest of its seven networks onto OmniBus automation by the close of 2006.

The OmniBus automation system installed at Scripps controls a video server system and a hierarchical storage management archiving system. In addition to facilitating the migration and launch of the network's existing and new SD and HD channels, the OmniBus-based playout infrastructure provides flexibility and scalability to accommodate future expansion of Scripps' network offerings.
