Lycos, one of the largest online content providers, has teamed with blinkx, the video search engine specialist, to facilitate faster video content searches on the Internet.
The companies said that the nearly 25 million visitors to Lycos could now find broader search results from blinkx's index of more than five million hours of searchable video content, including TV and news clips, short documentaries, music videos and video blogs.
The partnership expands Lycos' move toward more services for broadband users. Last month, Lycos launched a new broadband platform offering video programming. Blinkx uses speech recognition technology that, it contends, is more accurate at finding video than standard metadata-based keyword searches.
Under the terms of the alliance, both companies will share revenue generated from search results.
