Israeli cable consortium selects SeaChange for on-demand services

HOT, the Israeli cable consortium comprised of Golden Channels, Matav and Tevel, is rolling out on-demand television and has selected SeaChange International to provide the platform and integration services.

The VOD system enables the three cable operators to provide more than one million subscribers with an array of television programming to view at their convenience with fast-forward, rewind and pause capabilities.

The SeaChange VOD System—a comprehensive technology platform incorporating its patented MediaCluster servers, end-to-end automation software and real-time broadcast recording gear—enables broadband operators to easily initiate and enhance on-demand programming services.

This standards-based platform supports a wide array of third-party software and network components, and will be deployed with HOT’s set-top boxes from Advanced Digital Broadcast (ADB), Samsung and Thomson; middleware from OpenTV; and conditional access systems from NDS and Nagra.
