Inmedia to provide ITF with backhaul, distribution of Davis, Fed Cups

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has selected Inmedia to provide satellite distribution of the ‘Feature Ties’ of Davis Cup and Fed Cup during 2005 and 2006. The new two-year deal strengthens Inmedia’s relationship with the ITF. In the past, Inmedia has supplied satellite newsgathering facilities for the federation. Inmedia, a U.K. broadcast and media communications specialist, will provide uplinking and satellite space segment services, as well as turnaround connections to other satellites where required. In addition to the live tennis, Inmedia also will provide global distribution for the official highlights program available the Monday after each round.

Davis Cup by BNP Paribas is the world's largest annual international team competition in sport. A total of 134 nations entered the competition in 2005, with the 16 nations contesting the World Group. Fed Cup is the premier team competition in women's tennis, with 88 nations participating this year. Most Davis Cup and Fed Cup ties are broadcast in both participating nations.

In 2004, the Davis Cup Final reached 124 countries live.
