Front Porch Digital deploys archive system in Portugal

Front Porch Digital, the broadcast and media division of Incentra Solutions, has announced that it was selected by SIC to implement Front Porch’s DIVArchive software system in partnership with Sony for its central archiving solution in Lisbon, Portugal. Based in Lisbon, SIC is part of the IMPRESA group, one of Portugal’s largest media companies.

The SIC DIVArchive system will manage a Sony Petasite robot library equipped with SAIT-1 tape drives. Content will be moved into and out of the archive to Omneon Spectrum video servers for playout material delivery. The system is controlled and managed by an automation system from Harris and a media asset management application from Arkemedia. It is expected to move into first live production in fall 2005.

DIVArchive (Distributed Intelligent Versatile Archive) is a software middleware that enables interoperability between large digital media storage devices, video servers, editing systems and digital media workflow applications in the broadcast, media and entertainment industries. DIVArchive simplifies the process of preserving, managing, and accessing content.
