BTV+ transmits live HD medical images via satellite

At September’s World Congress on Therapeutic Endoscopy, live surgical procedures performed at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto were transmitted by BTV+ from the hospital for HD display to 3000 gastroenterologists and therapeutic endoscopists assembled at the Congress Centre in Montreal.

The live procedures were conducted using HD Olympus endoscopes. The remote images were displayed on 16ft x 20ft screens at the endoscopy conference. The images were projected via a Barco ELM R12 12,000 lumens 3DLP projector with 1600x1280 resolution. Feeds from the operating room cameras were projected via 9000 lumens Christie projectors.
