A&E networks to manage HD content with Front Porch Digital

The Arts & Entertainment Television Networks will manage its growing HD video archive with new search and organizational technology from Incentra Solutions and its Front Porch Digital (FPD) Broadcast & Media Division.

FPD is providing its DIVArchive system and BitScream transcoding solutions, as well as customized development and on-going professional services in future phases of this initiative. Telestream’s Flip Factory system has also been integrated into A&E’s multi-layered workflow.

A&E has committed to a complete digital end-to-end work flow by deploying a Sony digital tape library with 108Tb of storage. DIVArchive (Distributed Intelligent Versatile Archive) will manage the HD content and control its movement throughout the A&E Stamford, CT, facility. The first phase of the project will address the archiving and restoration of programming, which is distributed by a series of broadcast servers for play out.

FPD’s Bitscream transcoding solution will be used to generate Windows media 9 compressed files for viewing using a browser and specific file formats to accommodate digital play out servers. FPD’s Professional Services Division will manage the integration into the network's automation system and participate in each of the additional phases of expansion.
